Jason Derülo is an American singer, songwriter, actor and dancer born in Miami, Florida to Haitian parents as Jason Desrouleaux on September 21, 1989. His name has been changed to make it easier to pronounce. His debut, named “Jason Derülo” is due for release March 2nd. Here's the review, check it out!

After producing records for several artists and writing songs for Cash Money Records, Derülo released his debut single 'Watcha Say' in May 2009. The song became a huge digital hit selling over 2 million digital downloads. His second single 'In My Head' was released in December 2009.

First of all, it’s a pity the album's released with just 10 tracks; this should and could’ve been more in my opinion. But to be frank, it’s not just about quantity it’s quality that counts. The album kicks off with the debut single ‘Watcha Say’, a true --smash-- hit! The second single, called ‘In My Head’ is the third track on the album, R&B with rock influences.

Generally this album is very easy on the ears with highlights as:

- ‘The Sky’s The Limit’, where simplicity takes the upper hand. This track consists mostly out of feel-good-lyrics as “Like a shock, to my heart. When I saw you tonight. Like a dream come alive. For the very first time.”

- “Encore”, a love song delivered in a package you can unwrap with your own fantasy. Just imagine and enjoy!

- “Strobelight”, the last tack on "Jason Derülo" but certainly not the least, my favorite track of the album! This song is amazing! The beat, vocals and creative lyrics: “Is this a dream? Are you really there? A trick of the eye, I, I saw you, I swear. One touch, not enough. Wanna dance witchu all night. But keep me 'n keep me in the half line” make one hell off a track that get your feet moving! Press play is all I can say!

The tracks I haven’t mentioned are generally good, but not as good as I expected them to be. That special touch, which is essential for a debut is missing in most of these songs. Though this certainly doesn't mean that “Jason Derülo” can't reach the top with just the few hits it contains now.

Verdict:
Like I already mentioned, “Jason Derülo” is an album that's easy on the ears, with a few extra highlights to boot! The parts where Jason's voice reaches a high pitch are the greatest. The album could certainly use some improvements, just that little extra something that makes a good album great or even extraordinary. Overall I would describe this album as regular and definitely not a masterpiece. Anyway, listen to “Jason Derülo” and go experience it for yourself! Have fun!
