Like a Storm - The End of the Beginning

Like a Storm is a four-headed rock band from New Zealand. In 2005 when Matt, Chris and Kent Brooks decided to chase the dream of a music career in the US, they only needed a drummer. In their search they met Thomas Karanasos, and the band Like a Storm was formed. And now, 4 years later, their debut album "The End of the Beginning" is unleashed upon the world.
The first track that follows the intro is 'Chemical Infatuation', this track takes off right where the intro ended, with a dark vibe. It's one of those tracks you can put on and just feel better about yourself, because it has that dark sound in it. 'What It's Like', the second song, sounds more like good rock. It's totally different from 'Chemical Infatuation', and in my opinion, has a nice swing to it.
'Just Save Me' is more of an emotional rock track. It's not slow, but its lyrics: "What have I become, Can't face the morning sun, You're the only one, who can pull me out, Take/save me from/for myself, just save me", should give you an idea why I used the word emotional here. In short, it sounds great, has a good tempo and some easy hooks in it.
The tracks 'Change Tomorrow' and 'Galaxy (Rest in Peace)' are my absolute favorites. They are both slow with strings to give that intense feeling -- which I like. 'Change Tomorrow' has no drums in its composition so it's more acoustic.
The vocals share that same emotional message that the track tries to transmit to the listener and that's quite nice if I may say so. It gives this song that extra touch.
'Enemy', 'Don't Cry', 'Make A Stand', 'Lie To Me', 'Alone' and 'Keep the Pain Alive' share some equal properties with the other tracks and for that reason the album feels like a very balanced mix.
Like A Storm's "The End of the Beginning" in stores September 29th 2009.
