Switchfoot - Hello Hurricane

If you don't know Switchfoot, I suggest you start listening to this little masterpiece named "Hello Hurricane". The first time I heard of Switchfoot was back with the track 'Only Hope' since then they found a place in my heart as one of my favorite bands.
"Hello Hurricane" is their 7th original studio-album already and I must say: it sounds great. The album kicks off with a song called 'Needle and Haystack Life'. I'm not really sure what it is about, but it sounds good. It's an up-tempo/pop song with a catchy chorus that gives promise of more greatness to come.
I'm talking about the album-titled track 'Hello Hurricane' which is just a great sounding piece of music, filled with emotions that give you the feeling that nothing can stop you -- at least -- that's what I make of it. It's one of those lyrics that can have more than one meaning. It's what makes music so good in general, lyrics that mean to you whatever you want them to mean, there are a few tracks on this album that do exactly that.
To get back to the first track, 'Needle and Haystack life', if you take a look at the chorus: "In this needle and haystack life, I found miracles there in your eyes, it's no accident we're here tonight, we are once in a lifetime", it's clear that the listener can give his or her own meaning to the lyrics and that's a good thing, it makes the experience more personal. If you take the track 'Enough To Let Me Go' for instance and you listen to it a couple of times, you can clearly hear it's about love. This is one of those tracks that don’t have that double meaning which shows the contrast between the tracks on this album, there's room for music that doesn't need a deeper process of thought. I admit, every track makes me think about its meaning but if you're just approaching this from an entertainment perspective there's something here for you as well.
Switchfoot's "Hello Hurricane" in stores November 10th 2009.
